Trump nominates Andy Puzder to head the U.S. Department of Labor on Thursday. Andy Puzder is the Chief Executive of CKE Restaurants INC which owns the Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr. restaurant chains. Puzder has argued against both the Wage and Hour Rule Increase that increases wages for salaried overtime workers and the recent campaign throughout America that fights for an increase of minimum wage to $15. Trump has stated that Puzder has a record of fighting for the workers and will help small businesses to flourish. This article also discusses the recent Twitter dispute that Trump had with the Union leader Chuck Jones. Chuck Jones the “President of United Steelworkers Local 1999 President Chuck Jones, who represents workers at United Technologies Corp’s Carrier plant in Indianapolis, criticized Trump for inflating the number of jobs that would be saved by his intervention in the company’s decision to move some production to Mexico.” In only minutes after the interview where Jones criticized Trump, Trump took to Twitter to criticize Jones for being a bad leader and at fault for the jobs moving to Mexico. With so little time between the Jones interview and Trump’s response on Twitter, it does not seem that his statements were well thought out. It is not certain that Trump will continually do this, but the President should take some time to think before making broadcasted statements that could have national or international consequences.
